Earlier today, Square Enix Europe announced Camilla Luddington as the  new voice and motion capture actress for the upcoming Tomb Raider game. Camilla is the fifth voice actress (for the pillar release), succeeding Keeley Hawes who voiced the adventuress for Crystal's previous Tomb Raider titles.

Born in the UK, Camilla was educated at an all-girls’ school in Ascot, Berkshire. Later attending The American School In England in Surrey. She completed her education at Oxford. After education, she focused on becoming an actress and since then have worked in LA. Since 2007, she has starred in numerous programs including Californication, William & Kate, and True Blood.

In regards to the recent announcement of Camilla becoming the latest voice actress, Darrell Gallagher (head of studio at Crystal) has stated;
“This has been one of the most important jobs for us to get right. This Tomb Raider game is very different to any other and we are demanding far more from the voice acting than ever before as we take the franchise in a new direction.”
For the first time, Crystal recorded both motion capture and voice acting simultaneously which increased the challenge for the latest voice actress...Just without the falling on spikes, hitting trees, and having rocks fall on her head...I believe that is improvised...At least I hope so.

Camilla, will also participate in the Nerd HQ* and Comic-Con panels in San Diego, where she will join the development team as they talk about Tomb Raider and the story behind its creation. I'm sure that there will be plenty of coverage of the event via the official channels as well as assets released by Crystal, so hopefully we'll get to see the new Lara Croft shortly!

What do you think about the new voice actress, share your opinions in the comment box below!

*UPDATE #1: Due to the new template, the photos were too small for the section. I've replaced them with some of the behind the scenes photos from the Nerd HQ party.
