A safe haven for fans avoiding Rise of the Tomb Raider spoilers.
After seven and a half years, Guns and Grapple is closing down. Owning the site hasn't always been easy, but in the end it's always been worth it. I've had wonderful experiences and I've met incredible people across the globe. It's taken me to new places and dared me to go a little bit further.
Deciding to back away from the site hasn't been easy. I still love Tomb Raider and I look forward to continuing to follow Lara's adventures as a fan.
As for the reasons for the closure: In the past couple of years, there's been an increased feeling of negativity within the community, and much of that has been directed and vocalised at friends, fellow fansite owners, myself, cosplayers and developers. I know that none of you who visit this site take part in that at all, but I think that you've encountered similar situations. It can be heartbreaking to see that transformation surrounding something you love.
I know that it's something which has been heard and that there are plans to address it and make the atmosphere safer and more welcoming. But for me, it feels too late, and it's a good time to step back from the site.
As for the future away from the site, I'm still continuing with The Sudden Stop. We've just celebrated the launch of Quantum Break in the Remedy community and with the game's pre-order bonuses, there are more gamers being introduced to the Alan Wake series which is seriously awesome. I'm also helping Kate set up her own Tomb Raider fansite. Kate has been a friend of mine for years and she's not only wonderful and caring but the level of dedication that she puts into her work clearly shows in everything she's done. I'm really looking forward to its launch!
I'll never forget this site or the amount of support that you have given me all these years. You're awesome and thank you for everything! I'll see you around the community.
